Although Tuhau is a type of wild ginger; it doesn’t taste like it. In fact, its taste is closer to lemongrass. This vegetable is served in slices with lime, chilli, salt, and vinegar. A more modern recipe called Serunding Tuhau even fries the slices for a crispy texture. Tuhau is grown by the Kadazan Dusun tribes and can be served raw, as a pickle, or as a side dish. If you aren’t sure how to feel about the taste of this food of Sabah, be rest assured that Tuhau is polarising amongst locals as well!
